4–8 July
The Crawford Art Gallery is delighted to present a professional development course for Primary School Teachers. The course is held in collaboration with Cork Education Support Centre and runs from Monday July 4 – Friday July 8, 2011.
This course will be held in the gallery and led by Eilis Ni Longaigh. Eilis has 25 years of art teaching experience encompassing special needs education and gallery mediation.
Drawing on the diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, prints and ceramics at the Crawford Gallery, the course aims to allow participants to maximize on the teaching and learning potential of a gallery visit. Delivered in the inspiring setting of the gallery’s recently refurbished education room with direct access to the extensive collection of national and international fine arts, the course format is a blend of interactive tours, illustrated talks, presentation of teachers’ resource packs and ‘hands-on’ workshops.
Some feedback from teachers who attended the course in 2010:
‘Found the enthusiasm, energy and knowledge of the tutor very motivating……I’ve learned so much for myself not only from a teaching perspective’
‘Great ideas for responding to art, the questions to ask to build a story.’
‘A lovely course, informative, enjoyable, I have a greater awareness of how to use the gallery as a resource.’
